Creating your own website with WordPress can be simple and easy, if you know how to do it. Based on the contents and structure of the website you want to develop, creating a WordPress website can be as simple as a few clicks, or slightly complex.

Step 1 The first thing you need to figure out is where to place the website at the time of the development process. You can choose one of the two things. You can install WordPress in its own directory or on a separate domain.

Step 2 Now after you have selected the domain, it is the time to install WordPress. This process may vary a little, depending on your hosting company. If you do not know much about WordPress, then Wordpress provides a 5-minute setup guide which will help you out. On top of this, some hosting companies have their own tools, which can set it up automatically. Some other hosting companies may force you to make changes to a WordPress file. However, if you do not feel comfortable with code, it might be the best for you to look up a hosting company which provides automatic installation.

Step 3 One of most interesting things of WordPress is that you can get many different types of themes mostly for free, however you need to be careful while choosing a theme because it will define how much you will be able to modify and to what extent these changes can be made. You can choose your preferred theme from the WordPress theme directory or form other websites which offer premium quality WordPress themes.

Step 4 Once you have finished installing the theme you have chosen, you can stat customizing it. If you have doubts on your coding skills then you can use many WordPress plugins to customize the theme later. So at this point you do not need to worry about coding.

Step 5 You can play with a number of plugins to add functionality to your website that would provide more professional features and contents. You can use 'Admin Management Xtended' plugin to make it easier to perform usual tasks in the admin area, or 'All in One SEO Pack' plugin that can make your website more search-engine friendly, or other popular plugins like the Google XML Sitemaps, Permalink Redirect, One Click Plugin Updater, WordPress Automatic Upgrade, and so on.

Step 6 During the process of uploading the theme you can upload contents as well. This is possible because WordPress distinguishes contents from the designs. You can tweak your designs and transfer contents at the same time.

Step 7 If you have got to this point, then you are almost done. But, before you make your website go live, you should check and double check everything so that all the things are looking, feeling and performing the way you want.

Step 8 If you have done all the above steps correctly, then you have successfully completed the installation of WordPress, and now you can make your website go live. If you have chosen a separate domain, now you are ready to redirect your website to the new domain, once all these are complete. Once the installation of your website is successfully done, it is a good idea to check some of the WordPress plugins which can perform various tasks efficiently for you and save your priceless time.
